How will you power down?

I will power down by having my air conditioner turned off, appliances I am not using unplugged (trying to do this daily), planning a cold dinner or bbq with the neighbours, lighting candles once it gets dark. Will think of some more things but this is a start :)

The City of Guelph is excited about participating again in this year's challenge. We have lots of great things planned for our own buildings as well as different ways we will be engaging our community. I think we will be hard to beat this year!

I guess living in a rural area makes it easier for us - we power down each and every day, - no air conditioner, water saving due to being on a well, hanging clothes outdoors, etc.. but we love to cook outdoors, and our little community even gets into carpooling, having dinners together outdoors, even doing the
outdoors movie night so less tv...... try it and get to know your neighbours!

I've made a small wind turbine for under $100 - treadmill motor from ebay = $10, 8 inch tube for blades = free from dump, etc.

Here are the instructions with lots of pictures to help explain each step. Takes only a couple hours to make once you pull all the parts together.
